Installation Mistakes That Damage Your Door Frames

A magnetic screen door is only as good as its installation. Even small mistakes damage door frames, void warranties, and shorten lifespan by years.

Mistake #1: Over-Tightening Frame

Squeezing too hard creates invisible stress, leading to micro-cracks. Use gentle hand pressure only. If magnets won't hold, check alignment instead of cranking harder.

Mistake #2: Misaligned/Sagging Doors

Sagging doors create uneven gaps. One corner bears 80% load while opposite barely touches. Measure all 4 corners before ordering. Door sag over 1/4" needs repair first.

Mistake #3: Skipping Level Check

A 1/4" tilt creates drag and stress. Use laser level on all edges-2 minutes now saves 2 years of problems.

Mistake #4: Wrong Mounting Height

Mount at mid-height (12-18" from corners) to distribute load across strongest part of frame.

Mistake #5: Seasonal Installation Abuse

Remove gently with both hands supporting frame. Never use tools as levers. Store flat when not in use. After 20-30 rough cycles, mounting clips crack.

• Aluminum: Most forgiving, won't crack
• Wood: Expands/contracts seasonally, remeasure annually
• Vinyl: Brittle in cold, install 50�F+
• Composite: Most stable year-round
